Good people deservea good first jump.

Social Kangaroo was founded by Mayank Pathak. He studied English literature, prepared for India's civil services examination, and went on to a master's in development studies. Those years gave him a wide view of how the country works, from its geography and economy to its politics and its people.

His first role in the sector was with a Netherlands-based development organisation working to end child labour and bring children back to school: in sandstone quarries in Rajasthan, on farms and in home-based work in Bihar, and in garment work around Delhi. Today he works in corporate social responsibility, helping companies decide where their CSR funding can do the most good, and has travelled across India listening to the communities those programmes serve.

Looking for his own next role, he found what many in the sector know too well: listings scattered across dozens of sites, no salaries, unclear organisations, and applications that disappear without a reply.

So we're building the platform we wished existed. A focused job board first, and over time, an ecosystem that helps students, professionals, NGOs and funders find each other.
