01These terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Zeroforward Labs Private Limited (CIN U62099TS2026PTC212537), a company incorporated in India with its registered office at Rangareddy, Telangana 500089 and corporate office at Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 221007, which operates Social Kangaroo at socialkangaroo.org (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use Social Kangaroo.
These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and do not need a physical or digital signature.
02What Social Kangaroo does
Social Kangaroo helps people find work in the social impact sector. Organisations that we have verified can publish opportunities and receive applications. We also list curated opportunities that link to an organisation's own website. We provide tools such as job search, application tracking and a resume builder.
We are a platform that connects candidates and organisations. We are not an employer or a recruitment agency, we are not a party to any job offer or employment contract, and we do not guarantee that anyone will be hired or will hire.
03Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- If you register an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it and to accept these Terms on its behalf.
- You may hold one personal account. Do not create accounts for other people or share your account.
- We may refuse or close accounts that were suspended before or that break these Terms.
04Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- You can delete your account at any time from Account settings.
05Rules for candidates
- Your profile, resume and applications must be truthful. Do not claim qualifications or experience you do not have.
- When you apply, you choose to share your profile and application with that organisation.
- Use contact details you receive from organisations only for the application process.
- Never pay anyone to apply for, be trained for, or join a job found on Social Kangaroo. If you are asked to, report it to us.
06Rules for organisations
- Verification. You must give accurate registration details and genuine documents. We may check them against public records and contact you. A Verified badge means we completed our checks; it is not a certification of your work.
- Real roles. Post only genuine, currently open roles in your own organisation, with accurate titles, responsibilities, location and pay. Verified listings must show a salary range.
- No fees, ever. You must not ask candidates for money in any form, including registration, training, uniform, kit, security or “refundable” deposits. Breaking this rule leads to immediate removal and may be reported to the authorities.
- Fair hiring. Do not discriminate unlawfully, for example on the basis of religion, caste, sex, gender identity, disability or place of birth, and follow applicable labour laws.
- Candidate data. Use candidates' personal data only to consider them for the role they applied to. You are a Data Fiduciary for that data under the DPDP Act and must protect it, keep it only as long as needed, and honour candidates' requests about it. Do not sell it, add candidates to marketing lists, or share it with anyone outside your hiring process.
- Keep candidates informed. Update application statuses in good time. It is our promise to candidates that applications do not disappear without an answer.
We review every job before it is published and may ask for changes, refuse a listing, or remove it later.
07Content and conduct that is not allowed
You must not host, display, upload, publish, share or transmit any information on Social Kangaroo that:
- belongs to someone else and that you have no right to share;
- is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another person's privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, or encourages money laundering or gambling;
- is harmful to children;
- infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right;
- deceives or misleads anyone about its origin, or knowingly and intentionally communicates misinformation, or information that is patently false and untrue or misleading in nature;
- impersonates another person or organisation;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order, incites any offence, or insults another nation;
- contains software viruses or other code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer resource;
- violates any law in force.
You also must not:
- post fake jobs, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, or offers that require payment from candidates;
- copy, scrape or harvest listings or user data, or send spam;
- try to break into accounts or systems, get around our security, or overload the platform;
- use Social Kangaroo to collect personal data for purposes other than genuine hiring.
08Our role and moderation
Jobs, profiles and messages are provided by users, and we act as an intermediary for that content under the Information Technology Act, 2000. We moderate it in good faith: we review jobs before publishing, flag listings that mention fees, and act on reports.
We may remove or disable access to content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these Terms or the law, or when we receive a valid order from a court or government agency. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why. We keep records of removed content and related information for the period required by law.
09Grievances
Our Grievance Officer is Mayank Pathak, Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 221007. To raise a complaint about content, an account, these Terms or your personal data, use our contact and grievance form or write to that address.
We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days of receipt. Requests to remove content that exposes someone's private areas, shows them in full or partial nudity or in a sexual act, or impersonates them in such material, are acted on within 24 hours.
10Curated listings and other websites
Curated listings are summaries of opportunities published on an organisation's own careers page or on public job services such as ReliefWeb, with a link to the original. Some are collected automatically and checked by our team before they appear. We do not control those websites or those organisations' hiring, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you apply there. Check details on the original listing before you rely on them.
11Resume builder and writing help
The resume builder and its health check offer suggestions only. You are responsible for checking that your resume is accurate. If we add AI writing help, we will explain in the Privacy Notice what data it uses before you can turn it on, and you should review anything it suggests.
12Content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of what you add. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and process it only to run Social Kangaroo: for example, to show a job to candidates or send your application to an organisation. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has already been shared as you asked (such as an application already sent).
The Social Kangaroo name, logo, design and software belong to us. Do not copy or reuse them without permission.
13Fees
Social Kangaroo is free for candidates and will remain so. It is currently free for organisations. If we introduce paid features for organisations, we will publish the prices and tell you before anything is charged; nothing will be charged without your agreement.
14Disclaimers
- We work hard to verify organisations and review jobs, but we cannot guarantee that every listing or user is accurate or genuine. Use your judgement, and never pay to get a job.
- We do not guarantee interviews, offers, hires or particular outcomes.
- We aim to keep Social Kangaroo available and secure but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
15Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss caused by other users, organisations or third-party websites. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including for fraud or for our own wilful misconduct.
If you break these Terms or the law, you agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs that result from claims made against us because of it.
16Suspension and closing accounts
You can stop using Social Kangaroo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, puts candidates at risk, or where the law requires. When an organisation account is suspended, its jobs are taken down. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as liability and governing law) survive closure.
17Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before going to court, please raise the issue with our Grievance Officer so we can try to resolve it. Subject to that, the courts at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction.
18Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Social Kangaroo after that means you accept the updated Terms. The version and effective date are shown at the top.
